What American Heritage Girls is

American Heritage Girls is a scouting organization that was established in 1995 for girls ages 5 through 18.  It was started by a group of families in Ohio who wanted a scouting program for their daughters that reflected their Christian values.  Here's a link to our national organization: AmericanHeritageGirls.org.  Here's a link to a wikipedia article about AHG:  WikipediaAHGArticle.

The Mission of AHG:  Building women of integrity through service to God, family, community, and country.

Our Oath:  I promise to love God, cherish my family, honor my country, and serve in my community.

Our Creed:  As an American Heritage Girl, I promise to be Compassionate, Helpful, Honest, Loyal, Perseverant, Pure, Resourceful, Respectful, Responsible, and Reverent.

Our troop, CA2020, is chartered through, and is a ministry of, Saint Anne's parish, Porterville, CA.  Here's a link to our parish website:  StAnnesParish.com.  AHG is endorsed by the Catholic church, and has troops in around 50% of the diocese in the U.S.  Here's a link to the National Catholic Committee:  AHGNationalCatholicCommittee.  We are the second AHG troop in our diocese; the first troop is in Fresno.

Meeting Times

We meet 2 Sunday afternoons per month.  We meet additional days and times as needed to work on service projects, badges, and other activities.  These other activities are optional, depending on girls' interests and availability.

Age Groups in our Troop

Although we all meet at the same time as a troop, during the meeting girls work together with others in their age group.  We currently have the following units:

* Pathfinders - age 5-6

* Tenderhearts - ages 6 - 9

* Explorers - ages 9 - 12 (we have 2 units in this age group)

* Pioneers/Patriots - ages 12-14, and ages 14-18.

What We Do

Our meetings start with song circle, flag ceremony, prayer, and announcements.

During the meeting, girls work with their units to plan and to work on badges.

Meetings end with flag ceremony, prayer, and snacks.

Outside of regular meetings, we do horsemanship, swimming, gardening, hiking, service projects, etc.

Cost

Dues are paid once per year at the the time the girl joins, and at the beginning of summer after that.  Please contact us to find out the current amount.
